Blitzen Trapper - Field Rexx

Field Rexx by Blitzen Trapper

With 2 albums out now on Sub Pop heres the debut album at a very very nice price !! “Remember Beck before his career devolved into magazine-pleasing genre exercises? These guys have the same bent, rustic perspective on popcraft, and a heap of ambition.” - Marc Hogan, Pitchforkmedia.com. Forged in the USA’s indie stronghold of Portland, Oregon, Blitzen Trapper are one of this year’s most exciting leftfield discoveries, with a sublime UK debut that’s a delight from start to finish. Another MySpace success story, Blitzen Trapper are the first signings to new independent label Good Time Folk after a recommendation from fellow Portland musos Viva Voce led them to the band’s home page. If Field Rexx is anything to go by, they were ripe for the picking. Inventive, inspired and truly original, Field Rexx renders broken-down country, folk, pop and psychedelia with banjos, guitars, Jew’s harps and the odd twist of funk sass (check out the fat bassline on Love I Exclaim for proof). With echoes of contemporaries Beck, Wilco, Elliott Smith and Eels, Blitzen Trapper can be placed firmly in the lineage of West Coast pop – theirs are warm, sun-soaked songs with a sense of humour and a lot of heart.
