Old Nadja is back with another dark Nadjaery opus of doom for your ears. Baker and co. are on typically nihilistic form with bleak song titles like 'You Right Your Name In My Skin' or 'You Write Your Name In My Head' or the classic 'You Write Your Name In My Blood'. Dark! Here you get lots of acoustic instruments like cello, bass, violin, guitars etc. together creating quite a bleak landscape of noise. It's pretty good actually.... It's a lot more than just a simple drone record and parts remind me of some of the buildy up moments of a nice long Godspeed track. Sure it's intense and yeah it's pretty dark but there's plenty going on here to keep you neo classical doomheads happy. Mastered by James Plotkin fact fans.
Call it drone-doom-dirge-shoegaze or any other in vogue nomenclature you like. It doesn’t matter. The music is so sublime and superb that we consider a waste of time trying to further categorize the spiraling sounds exhaling from a NADJA album. They are simply the true originators of this bred of blissful, seriously intense and ominously ethereal heavy sounds.Autopergamene finds the duo at the peak of their sonic language of slow-blooming, heavily nuanced ambient guitar constructions and epic heaviness. From blissful, paced and almost orchestral hymns to lush acoustic guitars and super distorted, fuzzed out rumbling sludge riffages. Breathtaking.Lavishly assembled in a custom 6-panel digisleeve packaging housing a 6 cards set with beautiful watercolor paintings and artwork by the gifted Portuguese artist L Filipe dos Santos. Superb mastering via James Plotkin. Limited to 800 copies.
