Documentation of a live aktion in bristol, july 2008. Organ processing and stasis/shift construction. Indeed, a journey thru a body.
Anton Maiof is a busy man. Now relocated to berlin, he divides his time between a variety of projects; including: geisha (his noise-rock ensemble - releases on crucial blast), antoni maiovvi (his italo-disco persona - recent 12" on fright records), defibrillators (drums/electronics improv duo) and soundtrack work which has seen him grace the DVD re-issue of the legendary film haxan. VOLKHAUS is a live documentation of DTV - the "Quaballistic Drone" wing of the Anton Maiof empire. Performed using the orgone-o-phone, an instrument built by Maiof using a small Orgone Accumulator as a pick-up, VOLKHAUS is a tense push/pull between stasis and movement. Eerie drones and whispering passages are punctuated by detailed percussive movements, and the unsettling effect is akin to the sound of yr blood flowing around yr body. Released in a limited edition of 50, by the Journal of the Belgae Folk Club, this mini-cdr is housed in a beautiful stumptown-printed jacket with hand-assembled innards.
