This is a super nice 3" CD housed in a 5" stumptown sleeve with acetate inserts, hand stamped with posh little sealed envelopes. Very smart looking indeed. Seasoned Astral Social Clubbers will thoroughly approve of Neil Campbell's (and co?) trademark psychedelic swirls that are gently massaging my frontal lobe. This isn't radically different from their other material and it's clear to hear he's forged a distinctive sound of his own. I love the way the noises feel sculptured and enveloping. A potentially wonderful soundtrack to your own personal endeavours at astral projection. A winner as always
Swirling, colourful spans of ecstatic noise from Mr Neil Campbell.
Neil Campbell is a man who needs no introduction. A long-standing keystone of the UK underground, he has played and recorded with a who's who of british musicians and artists. Notable mentions from this list include prick decay/dylan nyoukis, richard youngs, matthew bower (total/skullflower), vibracathedral orchestra, smell and quim and the a band. His latest incarnation, astral social club, sees him as prolific and creative as ever. SMASHED TRACTOR is a colourful, swirling drone, building up to a dense heaven-bound thrust. I think the oft-used metaphor of a spinning gem deserves to be trotted out here. Released in a limited edition of 50, by the Journal of the Belgae Folk Club, this mini-cdr is housed in a beautiful stumptown-printed jacket with hand-assembled innards.
