Missed Comet Gain last week, they were supporting The Clean in Brighton & I was ignorantly stuffing my chops with Tapas round the corner. Gutted! At least this Soft City CD may relieve the edge of disappointment clouding my brittle heart. I think it's summat to do with a CG member (Phil Sutton) and they're from NYC I believe. Comprising perfect, wholesome 'n' jangly old-skool indie pop with a light soulful 60's edge, totally effortless classic melodies and clear, plaintive female vocals ala Sarah Cracknell or somesuch endearing girl-next-door. I really like this CD tons as it sounds so genuine, catchy & timeless. I reckon fans of anyone from The Pastels, TPOBPAH, Leichtenstein to Sarah records & the Aislers Set, not to mention "The Comets" will love this fully rounded CD. We managed to negotiate a decent price for this too as they're shipping from Peru which is a swine to get anything from so don't fanny around with this one, just stick it in yr basket you ninnies!!

The album, with liner notes by David Feck (Comet Gain), was recorded quickly over ten days in the summer of 2009, and features eight songs by Phil Sutton (Comet Gain, Kicker), and two by Jason Corace (A Boy Named Thor).
