They've given me the new Magic Numbers single to review. The jokers. If you cast your mind back a few years you might remember how much i hated them. So much in fact that I may have hinted that there was no need to worry about their uselessness as they are so fat they'd probably die soon. Well they haven't died and...wierdly...I'm quite pleased to see them back. Their comeback single is a ballad of sorts. Its certainly a bit better that the trifling indie smidge they slopped out a few years ago. Bits of Mercury Rev in here but softer. The B side is abysmal with a capital A. Its called 'This isn't Happening' and I wish to God it hadn't.
The 1st single to be taken from the Magic Numbers forthcoming 3rd album produced by Valgeir Sigurdsson (Bjork, Bonnie Prince Billy) & string arrangements by the late Robert Kirby (Nick Drake, Paul Weller).
