They Might Be Giants - Here Comes Science

Our album of the week (14th May 2010)

Here Comes Science by They Might Be Giants

5...according to our on Thu 13 May, 2010.

I cant believe I'm listening to a new TMBG album!! I'm actually nearly weeping into my coffee. It's always (for me) an emotional experience, whenever the two Johns make a record. I guess I'm biased, but I don't think I've heard a bad 'Giants album...and this baby is totally sweeet!!! Its a fun look at science in all its wondrous forms, its aimed at kids, but it should somehow manage to appeal (thanks to the sheer songwriting genius of the Johns) to everyone with a sense of fun and wonder. Some of this album is so catchy and steeped in fun and knowledge it's actually ridiculous. I think that this is one of the best things I've ever heard. All the tracks are amazing! The album cover design is also amazing. Come and bathe in the warm glow of TMBG. It's an uplifting life affirming experience and one that should be shared by everyone. The DVD is also an exciting proposition, every song has an animated video...Ohhhhhh!! A real winner!!!!

Combining a knack for infectious melodies with a unique, bizarre sense of humour and a vaguely avant-garde aesthetic borrowed from the New York post-punk underground, They Might Be Giants was one of the alternative success stories of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. The duo – John Flansburgh and John Linnell – are among America’s most successful creators of children’s music. Their first 2 children's albums Here Come the ABCs and Here Come the 123s featuring music videos with brilliant animations, delightful puppets and a soundtrack of brand new original songs.

Their new offering is a 2-disc CD+DVD, Here Comes Science, including songs and music videos that take a fun new creative look at science.

All 3 albums appeal to children, but also parents who enjoy a more intelligent and thoughtful approach to entertaining educational content.

They Might Be Giant's catalogue spans 13 studio albums, 8 compilations and 2 live albums. They have sold in excess of 4 million records globally to date.  They have won 2 Grammy's and have had over 10 million video streams on youtube and 1.6 million profile views on MySpace.
