More Captured Tracks goodness in this week. This time it's a 7" from La La Vasquez who are a damn fine outfit from the tracks presented here. This is pure party music that pillages from the unknown depths of garage rock, obscure indie and surf rock. Comparisons to the like of post-punk groups like Bikini Kill or Young Marble Giants are easy to make but i reckon this sits more in the terrain of outsider d.i.y acts such as London's Poltergroom or Bristol's The Jelas. Recorded in a typically lo-fi, scratchy kinda way and making good use of room ambiance La La Vasquez pound and shout their way through three belting tunes with the bravado of a great new band doing ace new things. Maxi-good stuff from these plucky London upstarts.
"Get on the party train with La La Vasquez. After playing their first show at Upset The Rhythm's Yes Way last year they've run riot in in sweaty rooms up [and sometimes down] the UK matching laid-back vocal harmonies with wicked shouts. Now they're moving on from their savage days with a melodic set of fuzzy jams that are a must hear in 2010. Au Pairs, Young Marble Giants, Bikini Kill, K Records... whatever, they love that stuff but they're on their own track."
