Dead C - Max Harris

Max Harris by Dead C

Any ole New Zealand nuts in the house? I used to love these guys... mainly cos they didn't really sound like anyone else and they forged walls of noise and melody into some (sort of) coherent sounding records. The story behind this one is it's their 1st ever recordings as a band and they were made in the first 2 months of their existence. They were released on cassette in an edition of 21 back in the day but chances are you've not got one and also I reckon the chances are high you didn't even know it existed. So this is a massive jam spread over 2 sides of vinyl. There's deffo some Swell Maps in there and the jam reminds me a wee bit of Can. It's a very raw, primal sounding recording and I reckon fans of Dead C will be fascinated to hear where it all started. I reckon it would take a good few listens to sink in as there's so much going on. Well interesting!

Max Harris captures the first recordings The Dead C ever made, back in January 1987. Each side displays a different and uniquely raw version of Max Harris reinterpreted both times by a group who can truly say they have never played the same song in any form the same way twice. Anyone who doesn t own one of the original 21 cassette tapes made of these recordings will be hearing them together for the first time. Yes, they've never been on vinyl before, so maybe one can even say this is the tracks first real release. You will be able to feel the slicing tension and drive right through your bones. Max Harris: The band's earliest recordings, originally released in anedition of 21 in 1987 Both LPs stickered w/ descriptions.
