Apples - Theo

Theo by Apples

4...according to our on Thu 13 May, 2010.

I like apples. These guys are called Apples and you might like them if you're into insanely upbeat, light and poppy indie rock. 'Theo' brings to mind the likes of Vampire Weekend or The Futureheads alongside influences from many an 80s chart hit while 'Caravan of Love' is an acappella in true barbershop quartet style. I'm pretty into Braeburns at the moment but they looked pretty dodgy when I was in the other day. I got some Royal Galas instead and they've been pretty good. A bit soft, but pretty good.

Apples reeling from the success of their critically acclaimed debut single Reason 45, embark on releasing their follow- up single Theo. This track expertly combines clean guitars and lighter-than-air synths. The band’s 5 part harmony vocals create a platform for the addictive melody and reflective lyrics.

Taking influence from the golden era of early 80’s popular music and culture - the sound is reminiscent of pop acts such as Haircut 100, Madness and Andy partridge.  At the same time evokes the style of vocal harmonies of 60’s bands such as the Beach Boys and the Monkees.
