The newie from Chrome Hoof is a prog masterpiece. There is a deluge of styles and instrumentation. They seem to be more like a demented orchestra than a conventional "Rock Band". They do rock though, these guys are not making music for baggy trousered ballet enthusiasts. The main ingredients for a Chrome Hoof dish are as follows..Take a pinch of high energy, superhuman chops, add two teaspoons of interlocking grooves and turn on a sixpence dynamics, add an ounce of lush passages of prog Rock, ala King Crimson Red era and yer well on your way to a Chrome Hoof feast. If an otherwordly experience is what your hankering for, then dont hesitate to purchase this record...It's 'Hoofing brilliant' etc.....
What can you say about a 12-piece doom house electro-disco metal phenomenon that dress like sacred knights fromthe 25th century? Relentlessly heavy, with singer Lola Olafsoye sounding like a South London sorceress having anervous breakdown on Neptune while tribal drums, rock guitars, staccato violins, grumbling oboes and a metallic basspound away in the background, Crush Depth is the ultimate encapsulation of this undeniable band s powers. It variouslysounds like the soundtrack to a lost episode of Blake s Seven, the best disco Grace Jones never performed at, the insideof a Black Hole, and The Apocalypse.Or, to put it simply, it sounds like the future. We are slowly catching up with Chrome Hoof. We should not be scared.the Deluxe 2LP version (w/ bonus track / MP3 code) will be out in June:For Fans of: Parliament, Sun Ra, Secret Chiefs 3,Noisettes, Praxis
