OVERVIEW: The Gentlemen Drivers are two childhood buddies: Bénoich and Mica. Tired of wasting their time on Myspace, they decided on a beautiful spring day to devote themselves to their common passion for music. A beautiful adventure began based on flying synthesizers, lucid melodies and electronic surges. After some well-noted remixes, among which one for The Teenagers, the EP "L'Arche” confirms and signs: the Gentlemen Drivers are in pole position.
‘L'Arche’, the 1st track of the EP, is a kind of electronic saga, tinged with synths & Slavic tones! The uniqueness of the melody stands especially on this hybridation of genres. At two thirds of the track, a saving break allows us to breathe. Tough race.
"Perpetual", more dedicated to the clubs, offers a hypnotic pattern where a new-wave spectre makes its appearance. We are still between the end of the seventies and the beginning of the eighties but this time, it is the music of a John Carpenter movie that comes to mind. The synths become worrying, and the beatbox punctuates this track race that will end badly.
‘2042 L.A Dreams’ or the American dream comes true. Palm trees are devastated by pollution, we are in 2042 and the sky of L.A. is perpetually darkened by gas. To the omnipresence of synths, some voices overlap and dress this track elegantly.
‘Beat Her’ Ft Soko. Soko makes her appearance in the car radio and suddenly, everything becomes simpler. Her childish voice matches perfectly with the melody played by the analogical synths. It is a sweet nursery rhyme, but the bitter lyrics are not inoffensive. Here we are, the trip is over. For now.
