Harvestman - Trinity

Trinity by Harvestman

4...according to our on Thu 13 May, 2010.

Harvestman is Steve Von Till of Neurosis who was kindly asked to provide this music as a soundtrack to Italian horror film h2odio (English title Hate 2 O) by critically acclaimed Italian director Alex Infascelli. It's easy to see why he was attracted to Steve Von Till's compositional work as it oozes cinematic quality, mainly due to his use of space and simple ambience. Guitars play the part of the primary melody creator with various tones, drones and synths anchoring the almost David Grubbs style of intimate six string playing. Though it is hard to judge the tracks on there effectiveness within the framework of the movie (which I've not seen) it is easy to draw your own cinematic impressions from these pieces which seem to reflect various moods and emotional states. Some of it even verges on Carpenter territory which pleases me very much. A great CD in limited supplies...get 'em while you can.

* Trinity is a limited edition issue of the soundtrack to the Italian horror film h2odio (English title Hate 2 O). Under the moniker of his pysch-guitar based project Harvestman, Steve Von Till of Neurosis creates an equally lush and beautiful, yet dark and disturbing backdrop to this psychological thriller. Juxtaposing the beautiful remote island landscape with the tormented psyche and tension of the plot, this soundtrack creates its own epic imagery in the mind of the listener.

* In 2005, critically acclaimed Italian director Alex Infascelli (Almost Blue) was handed a Harvestman album while beginning his edit of his new film. Captivated by the pace, variety, rich soundscapes, and hypnotic nature, he contacted Steve Von Till to ask if he would be willing to score the film on short notice. Having just relocated to North Idaho and about to complete his home studio, the timing was perfect. Within weeks the entire score was finished and Infascelli flew from Italy to Steve's home to go over the material.

* The sounds vary from lush, hopeful, and beautiful guitar based landscapes to sinister visions of psychic turmoil.

  * Very limited release housed in a beautifully screened arigato CD pack.
