Eric Copeland - Strange Days

Strange Days by Eric Copeland

4...according to our on Thu 16 Sep, 2010.

This is every bit as crackers as I was expecting from the Black Dice man. What we have is a bizarre collage using mashed-up samples, loops, field recordings and lord knows what else, all cut and pasted to create Copeland's vision, which may well be 'Popular Music Of Uranus' as written on the sleeve! He certainly seems to have an affinity with aliens and stuff but clearly the man's not taking things too seriously. He specializes in building warped grooves from loops that end as soon as you become hypnotized by them, moving swiftly onto the next piece in a hyperactive fashion. This would be good fun to play around armed with two copies to get properly in the zone.

Eric Copeland is an experimental musician based in New York.
He is a core member of Black Dice and forms half of the duo Terrestrial Tones with Animal Collective’s Avey Tare.

Eric has found his unique voice as a solo musician, and no where is that more apparent than on his ‘Doo Doo Run’ 7" and his new full length LP ‘Strange Days’.
