Daniel (A.I.U.) Higgs - Say God

Say God by Daniel (A.I.U.) Higgs

3...according to our on Thu 13 May, 2010.

I must confess that I'm not really familiar with The Lungfish mans solo work so here we go... Hmm he's coming across like a cross between Michael Gira and David Tibet doing possessed gospel sermons. The spoken word/ poetry stuff is interesting enough... I can appreciate what he's up to here but I'm finding it difficult to connect with it. Rather I prefer the instrumental blues moments. Apparently recorded with David Andrew Sitek (TV On The Radio). So there you go.

• Daniel Higgs is a musician and artist from Baltimore, Maryland on whose behalf superlatives are destined to fail. It’s not that his artistic output – spanning three decades, numerous albums, books of poetry and collections of drawings – simply eludes classification, it defies it. Often we hear that a true work of art is meant to speak for itself, and with the work of Daniel Higgs the maxim rings truer than ever. • Daniel is best known for his work as the lyricist and frontman of Lungfish, whose work on Dischord Records has spanned 3 decades. In addition to his work with Thrill Jockey, Daniel has released solo work on Holy Mountain, Northern Liberties, Open Mouth and Ideal Recordings. • ‘Say God’ is an album of gospel songs and poems, recorded with the help and enthusiasm of David Andrew Sitek (TV On The Radio). • The double CD version is presented in a 4 panel gatefold mini-LP style package with fold out 8” x 10” insert. The double LP version comes in an old-style tip- on gatefold jacket with 8” x 10” insert and MP3 download coupon. Vinyl edition is limited to 1,000 copies.
