This 12" has these guys remixing each other. First off old Glasgow heads Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle re-work thee Dog's CCTV Nation track into a slick and polished deep tech-houser, straight up mid tempo 4/4 with mid breakdown. Nothing particularly exciting, rather a functional club tool. Some pretty Detroit-ish sounds twinkling away in the distance. Flip for The Black Dog Corned Beefy remix of Slam's Azure tune which originally came out back in 2007. I'm certainly feeling this one, The bassline is highly infectious and the general feel is very uplifting. Can definitely see this one whipping a crowd into euphoria. Lush strings on this one and some sounds that a clearly recognizable as being nu-Black Dog. Love this cut a whole lot.
• Already a classic, Slam’s ‘Azure’ single is tackled head-on by the all-powerful The Black Dog. The deep and industrial textures of the original version are expanded and given a swift BPM upgrade, along with potent drum patterns and two earth- shaking basslines. This remix shows why they’re one the most influential figures in the British electronica scene. • After a successfully released ‘Radio Scarecrow’ album, The Black Dog produced another outstanding album, ‘Further Vexations’ with a more dancefloor influenced approach. ‘CCTV Nation’ is a track from that album that looks back to the Detroit golden years, and shows how you have to look back to move forward. • Available on limited edition 12” (750 copies) and digital download.
