Eli Keszler - Endgrove

Endgrove by Eli Keszler

I always like Rel's packaging. It's nice. Here they've even somehow turned that most unattractive of packaging bases - the humble plastic double cassette case - into something which is actually pretty lovely. You've got to ramble a bit while stuff like this warms up I find. OK so fans of Eli's masterfully crafted brand of aural oddness are going to be on steady ground here as he bows all sorts of things that probably didn't ask to be bowed, plucks things that probably didn't ask to be plucked and bangs things that probably did ask to be banged because everything asks to be banged - as Colin Farrell would no doubt tell you. All these 'things' were probably Blu-Tacked together after being found in the bins of his neighbours and local second-hand music shops, they all sound well cool and the pieces he's put together with them will no doubt give you hours of fun as you ponder the eternal question of "What's going on here then?"

Endgrove is the first new release by Eli Keszler in 2010, collecting three days worth of live recordings of Percussion clatter, bells, crotales and metal mix with bowed and attacked strings and guitar. Creating complex textures, moving from extreme density to sparse harmonics. 5 Pieces are scattered across two tapes, occupying a wide array of sound areas. The tapes themselves capture an amazing amount of detail and changes in tone color. Housed in a butterfly style cassette box with fold out multi layer silk screened covers. The color pro printed/duplicated muted grey and purple cassettes contrast each other with detailed printed images. Multi layer silk screened inserts on heavy metallic paper are found inside with liner notes printed on the reverse sides. All screened, drawn and designed by Eli Keszler. Endgrove is a limited one time edition of 120 copies.
