This fourth 10” in All City Dublin’s LA series takes a trip to the West Coast via Detroit. Both expats from the Midwest, Houseshoes and Jordan Rockswell (formerly known as Snowman) come with some heavy hip hop based instrumentals. Houseshoes, known as the ambassador of Detroit hip hop, having released records by and produced tracks for the likes of Jay Dee, Phat Kat, Slum Village, Guilty Simpson, Black Milk, and Ta’Raach, relocaed to Los Angeles in 2006. He makes another deep mark with two slamming tracks here, first on a nod to his favourite cigarette brand with ‘Newports’, and then a flip of the classic ‘60s groover on ‘The Look’. Over on the other side it’s the second run out on All City for Detroit native Jordan Rockswell. He released ‘Street Corner Music’ for ACD on a limited 7” under the name Snowman a couple of years back, and rocks the house with three new tracks here, including a great flip of JB on ‘Mr Dynomite’. Once-only pressing in the usual high-spec B+ sleeve art.
