Another good album! I picked up the Israeli copy of this a few months ago and it's not been out of the car since then. Yair had a 7" out on The Great Pop Supplement a while back and he got in touch and one thing led to another and we ended up getting a bunch in stock cos it's ace. It's just Yair playing guitar with the exception of a couple of tracks which has a bunch of other guys and gals playing drums, mandolin, viola, cello etc. Mainly though it's Yair doing a bluesy sort of Ry Cooder-esque guitar picking marathon through 10 tracks. Fans of Jack Rose, John Fahey etc take note as this is an exceptionally good album for you fans of finger pluckers out there. It's one of my faves this week and the standout tracks are 'Are You Smarter Than A 35 Year old TV Host', 'Russian Dance' and 'Skinny Fists' which is just awesome!
300 copies on clear vinyl, numbered in circular die cut sleeves. Choice of 3 sleeve colours: green, brown and red (same clear vinyl in each!).
Stunning debut 45 from amazing Israeli slide / picker Yair Yona. Much admired by the likes of Glenn Jones and the late great Jack Rose, the single here features 3 fabulous tracks of killer 6 / 12 string acoustic guitar, Weissenborn (an acoustic slide guitar), Resonator guitar, Bass and Banjo, over a layered drone backing, an awesome EP in cool circular packaging...
