8 Selections and Premonitions from the Tower, Vol.I by CWK Joynes & The Restless Dead

We always like a bit of great Pop Supplement action here at the towers and this week we got 3 things in on the label. I picked up the CWK Joynes 7" as I liked his album so much. One of the main things I listen to at home these days is men playing guitars... not rock guitars mind you. I'm talking about strummy acoustic ness and these days there's plenty of folks doing it. There's Cam Deas, Spoono, you got James Blackshaw and Chris Joynes to name a few. I can't get enough of any of 'em! And there's always those Leo Kottke and John Fahey albums I need to catch up on. Both tunes on here are ace and they feature The Restless Dead making subtle noises in the background with bowls, zithers, harp, bass flutes etc which add to guitar work and flesh the music out into something a bit different. More noticeable on the B side but both tracks are great! 350 copies only on yellow vinyl.

The first in a series of 5 x 45s as a collaborative project between the GPS and Bo Weavil records. The project runs something like this: A sides feature 5 C Joynes originals while B sides feature reworkings / remixes of other C Joynes pieces by friends and artists involved with all parties concerned. Volume 1 here is in an edition of 350 in die cut tower sleeves, on numbered yellow vinyl. A beautiful 45 which because of it’s collaborative nature means I don’t have the entire pressing at my disposal so be quick, especially as Chris’ LP with the GPS went in around 3 days last year or so!
