I don't know this band. I know of them and I've heard them but I don't understand them. I think that's what I meant. I don't understand them. Maybe now is the time. After all if Blast First and Sacred Bones are on the case then maybe it's just me? I was expecting a maximum goth-out and there's certainly a fat goth element hanging around here. Siouxsie Sioux springs to mind straight away. The other thing I was expecting was that I wouldn't like it as I had been warned...and I'm weirdly kinda liking it. Ooh I can hear the Slits now. That's it's... Think Siouxsie joining the Slits but with modern production and you've got an idea of what this sounds like. It's very early 80's goth / new wave.... Nice silk screened sleeve on the Sacred Bones vinyl version! (you just made it sound potentially really good but you've given it a score of 3/5?? x B)
6 young female musicians based in brooklyn, new york. 9 songs maketh the album sound. 2 well received singles originally released on loog records (ri.p) way back in 2007 & 2008 are included & that garnered them much press why the delay… ? well some things just take time. no rush, …a quiet assured confidence. a frightening strong and complex album. a real grower…..darkly atmospheric with a distinctly psychedelic feel. briests u.s label partners sacred bones say “owes as much to arthur russell as it does to amon duul” right on the button u.s. label dudes.(& you know you want to know……“rhizomes” meaning underground root stalk (ginger is for instance a botanical rhizome). if broken into pieces will form new plants.)
Track Listing : 1. Rhizomes 2. Long Shadow 3. Cousins 4. New Quicksand 5. X 6. Mirror Rim 7. Nights 8. Wodwoman 9. Shards
