Keijo - So Cold Blues

Apparently Keijo is a bit of a ledge in the psych circles of his native Finland and this CD is a fine testament to his arcane guitar powers which mix elements of folk, blues and drone into a heady broth of otherness. Lo-fi and understated, it's almost like peeking into a sepia dimension - one full of rickety caravans shuffling along, full of lonely bands of travellers traversing harsh and obscure fourth world terrains while trying desperately to keep their spirits up with a strangely meditative music that's hopeful by intent but melancholy by pure exhaustion. Matt Valentine is occasionally coming to mind and at times I'm getting a little Sun City Girls vibe.. I can imagine fans of both of their stuff finding something to love in this.
