Fists - Olympic Hits

Olympic Hits by Fists

Fists have been writing, fighting and exciting in various bedrooms and rehearsal spaces across Nottingham since 2005. Their noisy, joyful, occasionally ramshackle and always ferociously energetic gigs display the Fists sound in all its crisp, fresh, beautifully bruised glory. Sweet vocal harmonies, rich raw power; original, electrifying indie rock.

I recently saw these guys at Truck festival and bought this EP as a result.  It's great. Weekend is quite feisty and poppy but anthemic, the keys remind me of the Stooges, but it's less scuzzy than that. Squirl Squeek is quite Cramps-y with lots of odd lyrical references.  Ace Is The Way is again anthemic and is a really interesting take on an indie love song.

Then there's Roll Back My Eyes, a lovely sigh of a song that has had me on the verge of tears a few times.  Think Hope Sandoval, think happy-sad heartache...think I love the girl who wrote that song!
