Ancient Crux is the work of Travis Von Sydow, a young L.A punk who plays with Rabid Youth whilst occasionally making an appearance as a solo artist. 'In Teen Dreams' is basically a Roy Orbison style doo-wop, pop ballad performed in a youthful, lo-fi punk kinda way. Think Spectrals mixed with Jay Retard and you're somewhere close. The other side is occupied by kindred spirit and fellow punk rock auteur Tim Perry, a.k.a Weed Diamond (ace name i breckon) who knocks out a similar heart felt, lo-fi rock n' Roll ballad. Both these tracks are tastefully executed takes on a classic style i seem to be hearing alot of recently...still good though. Limited copies available.ANCIENT CRUX/ WEED DIAMOND

Ancient Crux is primarily 19 year old Travis Von Sydow (also of LA punks Rapid Youth), he writes and records everything himself but plays live with anyone who is available on the night.
Described in some circles as a lo-fi Roy Orbison and, occasionally, ‘surf-goth’, Ancient Crux have built up quite an underground following, selling out two runs of their ‘Interracial Coupling’ EP along with numerous tapes.
‘In Teen Dreams’ is a teenage punk’s take on a 1950s love song. - all sha-la-la backing vocals. lo-fi fuzz and teen idol crooning. A hazy memory of drag races, drive-ins and milkshakes.
Weed Diamond is Denver, Colorado based Tim Perry, another lo-fi auteur. With an upcoming first single with Transparent and a sold out in seconds debut (‘The Sweater Kids’ tape), Weed Diamond’s side of this split is his heartbroken paean to teen lovers, ‘Nothing To Write Home About’.
‘Nothing To Write Home About’ sounds like a long forgotten doo-wop classic, floating behind the swirling fuzz and echo. His reverb heavy vocals drift in and out of the chiming guitar, with Twin Peaks strings bringing to mind lonely heartbroken prom nights.
If John Hughes made American Graffiti these two songs would be on the soundtrack.
