An overdue reissue of a long out-of-print favourite! A perfectly-formed album of sludgy, doomy, riffy, Sabbathy rockers that's as heavy is it is ridiculous (and it's definitely pretty ridiculous). The title track is a thing of glorious, chugging beauty and the rest ain't bad either. I remember around the time this album came out they played a show supporting Queens of the Stone Age in Manchester but my friends and I arrived at the venue slightly late, because we we'd been busy making sure we were adequately 'prepared', only to find that they'd just gone off and were being replaced on the stage by King Adora. It's possible that none of us present that night ever truly recovered. If you don't dig on the 'Snake you're no son of mine!
* After the release of Goatsnake's debut album I and its follow up EP Dog Days, the very next release from Los Angeles' heavy, doom-rock band was 2000s Flower of Disease.
* The album was recorded in two weeks at Grand Master Studios in Hollywood. It was engineered and mixed by Nick Raskulinecz (Danzig, Foo Fighters, Probot, Alice In Chains). The songwriting and performance of the band showed an improved and elevated level. Pete Stahl's vocals were especially more intense and melodic than on previous recordings.
* The band was also trying to expand heaviness in their own unique way, as is evident on standout tracks "El Coyote", "Easy Greasy" and "The River".
* Originally Flower of Disease was released by the now defunct Mans Ruin Records, while Southern Lord released the vinyl version. Both these releases have been out of print for over eight years. In order to preserve and properly document this important recording Southern Lord is proud to present this reissue of the album on CD.
* Goatsnake was Greg Anderson (SUNN0))), THORR'S HAMMER, ASCEND), PETE STAHL (SCREAM, WOOL), GREG ROGERS (THE OBSESSED) and STUART DAHLQUIST (BURNING WITCH, SUNN0))), ASVA)
* TRACKLIST: 1.Flower of Disease 2.Prayer For A Dying 3.Easy Greasy 4.El Coyote 5.The Dealer 6.A Truckload of Mamma's Muffins 7.Live To Die 8.The River
