Wow, more goodness....it's my lucky day!! OK, four unreleased tunes from Brooklyn's Blank Dogs available on the ever reliable Captured Tracks..nice. Not really heard huge amount of Blank dogs material but i'm enjoying these odes to summers past very much. Almost everything here gives of a semi gothic indie pop vibe that shares a little in common with The Cure mixed-up with early Depeche Mode efforts. Propulsive drum machine programming leads the way with fuzzed up synths, chorus effected bass and wiry guitars following their lead. The vocals also have that basic, almost softly spoken approach that suits this kinda slacker, New Order style pop perfectly. Similar to Future Islands and other bands that are tapping into the mid-eighties early electronic pop vibe and making it their own.

Brand new EP from Blank Dogs, a more electronic sound emanating from Brooklyn, 4 tracks that wont feature on the forthcoming full length; you can hear one of the tracks on Blank Dogs' myspace. Given the fact that Blank Dogs makes so much music that he often forgets he s made records until finished copies arrive at his door, your guess is as good as mine as to when these songs were made, but titles like End of Summer and Heat and Depression might offer some clues. One way traffic only on these 12" and Cassettes!
