Stanley Brinks & The Wave Pictures - Stanley Brinks & The Wave Pictures

Stanley Brinks & The Wave Pictures by Stanley Brinks & The Wave Pictures

...It just went up to twee factor 10 in here. The latest album from Mr Brinks (or Brinksy) is full of lo-fi laments and odes to lost loves. It has a great sense of fun though. Anyone who name checks Bono in the first couple of lines in a song gets my approval. The production is nice though, very simple sounding, and not drenched in reverb, which is nice. I think Brinksy is quite the songsmith...and he sounds like a Snoopy character. He has a bittersweet voice and he uses it really well. The rest of the band are no slouches either. A great album...an I'm not being bribed to say this honest to God...

Stanley Brinks (aka Andre Herman Dune) is joined by with The Wave Pictures for his new album Stanley Brinks & The Wave Pictures on Ciao Ketchup.

The former member of French/Swedish anti-folk trio Herman Dune, Stanley Brinks released his debut solo album ‘Dank U’ last year.  This time, alongside The Wave Pictures (Moshi Moshi), Stan’s simple, memorable lyrics come punctuated by the unlikely guitar shredding of Dave Tattersall and is pushed along with the skiffling beats of rhythm section – Jonny Helm and Franic Rozycki.

Born in Paris, of Swedish and Moroccan parentage, and with an early penchant for singing in both Spanish and Italian, Brinks has travelled the world and performed under a number of different monikers - Ben Dope, Ben Haschish, Klaus Bong, John Trawling, John Andreas, Lord Stanislas being amongst them….but it’s Stanley that has stuck.

When he’s not in his Berlin retreat composing and recording, Stan tours extensively in his trademark Hawaiian shirts, winning the devotion of music fans with internet live shows and connecting songs of hard won truism and humour.  An unknown to many, but an absolute legend to those in the know, Stanley Brinks is one of the most distinctive singer-songwriters of his generation.
