Woof Woof EP by Dan Deacon

I love this Dan Deacon single and I'm curious as to why it's taken so long for it to get an official release in the UK. It features about as much hyperactive creativity as you could possibly fit into one single. It features probably the wonkiest, most fantastic bass line I've ever heard in my days on this Earth and I like it very much. It has many more excellent features but lets concentrate on the remixes for now... First up Hudson Mohawke does fantastic and wondrous things with the source material increasing its wonkiness ten-fold whilst bringing a little soul. It's amazing! Allez Allez's 'Acid Mix' sounds more like 80's power electro rather than acid but it's still a fun mix. Finally, it's Luke Abbott who takes a modern Four Tet approach and pretty much pulls it off too, I'm especially into the subtle melodic changes he's incorporated. It's worth buying this single with or without the remixes but it's always satisfying when the source material is treated so kindly. Ace tune, ace mixes. Single of the week for me I reckon.

* By now you’ll know Baltimore’s Dan Deacon. Dubbed ‘oddball’ by many, ‘inspired’ by more he’s one guy treading many thin lines – confidently straddling between nutjob and genius, downright brilliant and insanely mind-bending, and with a live show from another world inducing more audience participation than a seriously skewed pantomime.

* The label Amazing Sounds has brought together kindred spirits Hudson Mohawke, Allez-Allez and Luke Abbott to create a rich and varied EP which mirrors Dan Deacon’s rich and varied music. This is only the second release on Amazing Sounds, the first being a 12” of remixes from the Krautrock classic Harmonia & Eno ’76 album ‘Tracks & Traces’ (with remixes from Shackleton and Appleblim & Komonazmuk).

* This next vinyl release is a one time only pressing of 500 copies.

* So here it is then, a more emotionally-charged, intricate and complex EP, skilfully executed and woven together into a rich, dense, noisy dance pop that’s become Dan Deacon’s signature sound and all tied up with beautiful original label design by Amazing Sounds in house artist, famed designer James Joyce (http://www.one-fine-day.co.uk). We’d expect nothing less.

* TRACKLIST: 1. Woof Woof (Original mix) 2. Woof Woof (Hudson Mohawke remix) 3. Build Voice (Allez-Allez remix) 4. Surprise Stefani (Luke Abbott remix)
