The Soft Moon have a sound that is quite hard to pin down. Taut, whispery vocals, a drum machine that would get Andrew Eldritch moist, and an almost Joy Division bass hook. I guess you could say its dark gothic pop, but I would have to kill you. The flipside offers much of the same, but maybe with more atmospherics and a huge swirling production. Best listened to when moving slowly from side to side in a black painted, candle lit room while wearing eyeliner and saying "Everything's sooo shiiit....".Another killer two track 7" from Captured Tracks: "A group somewhat at odds with the rock and roll fairy tale town they call home, San Francisco's The Soft Moon are to release their debut 7" 'Breathe the Fire' next week on Tally Ho's favourite uber-label Captured Tracks. The single is a gem and will surely excite fans of Blank Dogs, New Order and moody 80's synth work outs." -Tally Ho!
