The Complete Short Stories - One Blank Channel

One Blank Channel by The Complete Short Stories

I like them big books of complete short stories. I'm dipping in and out of this chocka H.G. Wells one at the moment and it's well satisfying. If you're into your indie rock you'll find this single pretty satisfying too, I'm sure. I like this; there's something about the sweet, poppy female vocals combined with a slightly symphonic overall feel and just that little bit of guitar bite nabbed from the 80s US underground which really hits the spot and forms something quite different from anything else I've heard coming out of UK indie types recently. I'd encourage you to give it a wee go!

Limited edition 7" from The Complete Short Stories - the seven varied and sometimes vivacious talents of band combine together in one great big stage-filling, crowd-bursting jumbled up group. Since May 2009 Kerry has been leading the septet through their sets of soul and solace, from whence 'One Blank Channel' and 'Farm' have tumbled, blinking and twinkling. For influences, The Complete Short Stories name check Kate Bush, Orange Juice, Trojan Records, "old blues men in general", Sonic Youth, Swervedriver and Pink Floyd, but rather than sounding like a demented combination of the above, the seven piece make fragrantly melodic, disarmingly comforting music with a crunchy sub-orchestral undertone, which has caused more than one person to state that they sound ever-so-slightly like Clare Grogan fronting Camera Obscura.
Forthcoming gigs: March 4th High Wycombe Bucks Uni, March 11th London Borderline (Single Launch Party) Tracklisting: 'One Blank Channel', 'Farm' , 'Release Me' (Acoustic)
