Joy Orbison - The Shrew Would Have Cushioned The Blow

The Shrew Would Have Cushioned The Blow by Joy Orbison

Dropping rather later than planned is the latest major waxing from man of the moment, Jeff Orbison. His sultry take on airy house-tinged dubstep is a rather refreshing concoction. I like the soulful vocal snippets, all woven beautifully into the standout track: 'The Shrew Would Have Cushioned The Blow'. Its definitely a total propulsive mood setter with gorgeous fluttering synths, a beautifully paced rhythm track & all his palette of sounds & sonic trickery on display. It fit nicely into the recent Scuba mix CD we all liked here & now fits firmly into my heart. The 'So Derobe' tune pumps up its low end, possesses a sharper beat and feels a bit more steppy & glitched. A different kind of silicone soul & certainly another floor shifter. The Actress remix of 'The Shrew..' gives off this bleepy Euro-tech sheen. It sounds like a minimal B-Pitch number with some classic Detroit references, the sporadic 4/4 all compressed & blunted, the whole arrangement pretty sparse & "Berlin" sounding! It's a fine version indeed
