Well they've gone & done it. To be truly retro the Ghost Box clan have switched to vinyl and the first wax rolling out of the doors is a revamped edition of the first Advisory Circle 3" mini album/EP thang. I fell in love with 'Other Channels' - as did most nostalgia heads - so feel privileged to be revisiting this release. The opening track reminds me of the poppier krautrock stuff somewhere between Neu! & 'Grosses Wasser' era Cluster - that chirpy, breezy motorik pop with cheeky parping melodies mixed with the essence of 70's library records. That chirpy android tunefulness merged with analogue synth pulses sound strangely modern & crispy fresh! There's some sinister manipulated & mangled sound from another dimension provided as an interim which leads to another diversion in a different glade entirely, one that brings to mind a warm, woody clearing, teeming with a vast plethora of scuttling nature, the hazy sun spilling through the trees bathing all in its mercurial warmth. I'm only reviewing the first side as there's time limitations but the final piece is a most joyful & evocative analogue synth piece, I feel quite elated now!
