Dub From the Roots by King Tubby

Dub… One of the finer things in life. I recall the day I got my student loan, heading straight out and picking up a King Tubby album, taking it back to the flat and getting mega-chonged…. So this valuable reissue of this 1975 release comes with an all round seal of approval from us lot. I can listen to this stuff all day long and get lost forever in the hypnotic smokey grooves and spacey reverb and delay. Tracks derived from cuts by Johnny Clarke, Jackie Edwards, Cornell Campbell, John Holt, Horace Andy, Ronnie Davis and The Uniques. So yeah this is wicked and the baselines will have you nodding your head like one of those dogs people have in the back of their cars. My missus doesn't like dub music because 'it's boring and it all sounds the same'. Heheh chalk and cheese… Phil hates cheese… There are some strange folk walking this earth. Tubby really is the king… Buy on sight!!!!!

King Tubby and Producer Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee are intertwined in the birth of Dub Music. After discovering a mistake that made a ‘serious joke’ ( more of which later...) they went on to release the first pressings of this new musical genre namely ‘Dub Music’. Tubby’s vast knowledge of electronics and Bunny’s vast catalogue of rhythms would lay the foundations of what today is taken as a standard...the Remix / Version cuts to an existing vocal tune.

This historic set of sounds has been lovingly restored and with a few extra gems added to the CD Editions. These releases were the first to carry the name of King Tubby and the first to credit the great musicians that contributed so much to the rhythms that made these albums possible.
