I've been secretly enjoying most of the stuff on this label for a while but I've not really done much about it. The records come in, I hear 'em, like 'em and they never do anything about it. I get the 'I've got far too many records' thing going through my head and then drift off to some other random thought about giraffes eating whole lemons and wondering if they wince or not. I bet they would. This cheeky little 7" is numbered of 500 and it's a nice slab o' psychedelic pop which reminds me of earlier Ariel Pink and it has that Syd Barrett crazyness about it. It's pretty cool actually. It gets a bit mental later in the lead track with all sorts of wobblyness going on which I like a lot. It reminds me of some of the stuff that Kramer and Shimmy Disc used to put out years ago. Weirdly I've just looked at the back of the sleeve and it was recorded by Gary War & Ariel Pink and there's a big slice of lemon meringue pie on there (no giraffe though...)
Brand new limited 7" from VD, blowing the dust out of their Barrett-esque psyched pop..this brings 60s pop to the future..amazing "Our previously loved psychedelic friends, Velvet Davenport have just sent over their newest slice of 60 s infused pop. On their recent LA vacay they met up with like minded nostalgists Ariel Pink and Gary War, the resulting Get Out is an acid flashback into a more liberal state of mind. This will be the a-side b/w of Run which is set for release as a 7″ on, the appropriate, Shdwply Records. Also, check out the free downloads that Velvet Davenport has available at their myspace..." -Weeklytapedeck.com
