Unwed Teenage Mothers - If That's Love

If That's Love by Unwed Teenage Mothers

Debut 45 is pregnant with 4 songs from The Unwed Teenage Mothers, who share members of Lover! and Bass Drum of Death. Who is the father?! This record bounces between a nice 'n sweetened-up "hollow-guitar" sounding Ramonesy pop (a-la-First Base) and the supercharged Marked Men-level jolts of....uh, the Marked Men? Yes. But strip off the serious face, you! None of that here. Go leniant on some slop (it all gets chewed up in your mouth anyways). And get to talking about such scholarly topics as the "TEENAGE BRAIN". You are now entering the world of The Unwed Teenage Mothers. What makes these guys resonate is the knack for hitting on some genius-grade stupidity while also slipping you some "relationship blues" while yer bobbing along. Certainly not revolutionary, but what is you ass-brain?! And it's great! Power-pop-punk-gumball-gummy-gunk in a quickly shifting lil poppy hurry-up offense. Shifting from sheer fun to depressingly simple & effective lyrics (check out "If That's Love" and "Stick Around" for ditties of such magnitude and longitude and latitudinal lines.
