I liked Fool's Gold so much I bought the company. Their last single was a Michael Winner and I think this baby is too. It's not as uptempo as the last single. It sounds so laid back and happy. Its so contagious. I started beaming and reclining in my shitty office chair. These guys make me want to put on bermuda shorts and do other things tropical. The flip side has a great remix, by none other than David "Childish" Jensen....not really... it is by Memory Tapes and it is ace!!! I don't usually like remixes but this one is totally sweet...it actually adds something to the original... My favourite single by a country mile...Second Ltd 7" to be taken from the critically acclaimed debut album from Fools Gold. The original 'Nadine' with its uplifting, swirling horn section is complemented by a (exclusive to this release) Memory Tapes remix which subtly twists the original into a six minute dreamy, electronic workout. Fool s Gold is a Los Angeles collective that weaves together western pop aesthetics with African rhythms and melodies. The group started as a side project of two young LA musicians, vocalist/bassist Luke Top and lead guitarist Lewis Pesacov, who set out to explore their shared love of various forms of African music (specifically Congolese, Ethiopan, Eritrean and Malian), Krautrock, and 80s dance influenced pop music. Fools Gold will be supporting Tinariwen in New York after sucessfully selling out several London shows earlier this year. CD / LP available now via Forte in the UK with a bonus disc for indies.
