The Dirtbombs - Race To The Bottom

Race To The Bottom by The Dirtbombs

4...according to our on Thu 25 Feb, 2010.

What can I say about this record that is not mentioned in the hilarious press release... This is a total piss take of record. If you are familiar with The Dirtbombs then you may have come across some of their stranger, synth based material before but this is a first for me. 23 minutes of meandering, space tone and electronic improv all squeezed on to one side of a 12" may not be what you'd expect from a blues rock band from Detroit but as the press release implies.... Tough shit, this is what you deserve. I kinda like it's daftness but I'm not entirely convinced that it's great standalone material, more a knee jerk reaction to the commercial failings of the group as a whole. Saying that, I like the kitsch sci-fi edge that electro-Dirtbombs bring to the table and I'd much rather listen to this than one of their proper-for real-serious albums. Good madness.

Limited release from Cass Records / The Dirtbombs..so, you thought...500 only, vinyl only,Full version 12 one-sided singleThe record no one wants to hear! We took a poll of the Dirtbombs fan base on their likes and dislikes and cooked up the exact opposite of what they're looking for. Enjoy 23 excruciating minutes of aimless, meandering synthesizer noodling. You thought the six minutes of this song on We Have You Surrounded was painful? This 12" makes ear-bleeding seem like a blessing in comparison. We want to call this limited, but if we can convince more than 500 suckers out there to buy this than we will certainly make more.
