It brought a smile to my face to see that Ceephax has named a track 'Turrican II' after a mega classic video game that I must have lost days of my life playing. This 6 track EP is sounding like a lot of fun. He's chopping up breaks galore and in full on dancefloor mode which is always good.... The second tune has a stomping 4/4 with some breaks on top and pure dancefloor energy when the electro funk synths and acid come in it's a totally wicked tune that'll have the ravers in ecstacy. 'Souley Man' is a remix of Omar Souleyman. Jenkinson takes same of his dabke sounds but no vocals and creates another floor friendly number. The next tune is like a rainbow of soulful swirling synths at a steady house tempo. All in all a fine quality EP. Ceephax doesn't have to prove what it is capable of, with its live performances and because of its succesfull compositions, Ceephax' fame is completely acquired. This new EP retraces Ceephax's history and its very own personal and genious way to appropriate a musical style with always such generosity. "Souley man" is a dub step remix of Syrian Omar Souleyman.
"Bacardi Breezer" is dedicated to become a dance floor hit on a beach at sunset, it describes perfectly its positive attitude. The drum n bass track "Dona Hue" is impeccable and without concession, side b "Turrican 2" break bit track reminds the superb album Exidy Tours out on First Cask Records, followed by "Ticker Train" acid bomb that defies anybody to not let themselves get carried away by these wild bpm.
