This album starts with a total banger which smashes you in the face. 'Magnetic Warrior' has an awesome fuzzy bassline with Fall/Talking Heads spoken vocals over this percussive beat... The production is immense. It's surprisingly good.. Possibly the best thing I've heard by 'em.... I also quite like Shark's Tooth which is proper marching music... You can stomp your way to work listening to that one... I'm pleased they've dropped that pub rock sound and replaced it with something a bit more meaty. Maybe they've been hanging around the butchers? I'll have a butchers at the CD sleeve.... Nah I can't see any reference to meat. Though the album is called Coconut so if you were stranded on a desert island I suspect a coconut would be your meat. The album has quite a new wavey feel but seeing as though it's produced by Tim Goldsworthy of DFA you'd probably expect that. He's done a smashing job as he's made 'em sound pretty good.• Following the massively acclaimed record ‘Derdang, Derdang’, Domino’s blues psych visionaries the Archie Bronson Outfit have taken another step into the unknown, totally based in a tradition but manipulated into totally new forms.
• ‘Coconut’ is a modern psychedelic testament delivering a visceral shot of pleasure. With recording sessions in London and Benton Harbour, Michigan, with production from DFA’s Tim Goldsworthy (LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture, Hercules & Love Affair), ‘Coconut’ is an album bursting with warped inventiveness and sonic intent.
• Initial copies of ‘Coconut’ will feature an accompanying DVD of videos for the entire album, most of them made by the band, some by artist friends and collaborators, all showcasing Archie Bronson Outfit’s own unique vision. Once the initial CD + DVD runs out, the format will revert to a single CD version (WIGCD223).
• The band embark on a UK tour in March to support the release.
• Available on limited edition CD + DVD (5000 copies), and limited edition clear vinyl LP with super lavish packaging, printed inner sleeve, insert & DVD (500 copies).
