Local Natives - Airplanes

Airplanes by Local Natives

3...according to our on Thu 25 Feb, 2010.

Local Natives are hovering around that murky pool of baroque, heartbreaker pop that is currently inhabited by the consistently popular monsters that are Grizzly Bear & Fleet Foxes. I don't understand this music very much, instrumentally the flailing drums, sketch-like guitar flourishes with perky swells of piano & huffing orchestration are quite beautiful but often I'm overwhelmed by the chest beating vocal gymnastics which I find all a bit too earnest. The grandeur & richness of this single is not to be scoffed at, this tune 'Airplanes' I'm sure will wring both joy & despair from many a young heart with its impassioned wailing but I'm merely left wondering whatever happened to the Hothouse Flowers......Bummer.

•    Local Natives embark on a sold out tour around the release of ‘Airplanes’, following a sell out January show at the Hoxton Bar & Grill in London.

•    ‘Airplanes’ is taken from Local Natives’ critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Gorilla Manor’.

•    Rave press reviews and massive radio support for this band.

•    “Local Natives’ evident ambition and accomplished execution of even the grandest ideas sets them in good stead to not only follow several leads, but stand out on their own before long” – BBC.co.uk.
