Holly Miranda - The Magician's Private Library

The Magician's Private Library by Holly Miranda

4...according to our on Thu 18 Feb, 2010.

XL have signed up Holly Miranda and released her first album which has been produced by Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio. 'The Magician's Private Library' sounds fully accomplished for a debut from this bright young singer songwriter. There's a kind of dreamy vibe emanating from these polished pop songs. I'm a little lost for words really as this isn't particularly my bag but in terms of this type of stuff it's good quality and I'm sure she'll be garnering quite a following while on the road with The xx and Friendly Fires.

•    XL Recordings announce the release of Holly Miranda’s debut album ‘The Magician’s Private Library’.

•    The album, produced by TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek, is available on CD and double LP, and features recent single ‘Forest Green Oh Forest Green’.

•    How 27-year-old Holly Miranda arrived at ‘The Magician’s Private Library’ is a tale every bit as fantastical as the record’s otherworldly title suggests. It’s a story of overcoming small town mentalities and dodging mobsters, taking in small-scale fraud, subterfuge and religious zealots. The story of the album’s recording is equally compelling. Recorded before Holly had a record deal during all night sessions at Dave Sitek’s New York studio and featuring cameos from fellow TV On The Radio members Kyp Malone and Jaleel Bunton, it’s one of the most captivating albums of 2010.

•    Since an unsigned Holly emerged earlier this year, she’s received early love from Vanity Fair, rave write-ups in Dazed & Confused and filmed La Blogotheque sessions. She is currently in America finishing off her tour in support of The xx and Friendly Fires, before she heads to the UK for a headline tour (dates to be announced).
