At Last An Atlas
From Which We Were Raised

This record left our Clint feeling happy.
Finally from me a CD on Slow Loris by At Last an Atlas. called 'From Which We We Raised' - the first thing to note is that its a gorgeous looking thing and the typeset will probably get in the Clinton famous top 5 fonts of the year chart rundown. The music is mellow, minimilist home spun pop music with beat box type rhythms, simple organ and guitar lines and hushed vocals. The best comparison would certainly be Grandaddy but I can hear a bit of Thee More Shallows, American Analogue Set and Radar Brothers in there. We have copies that come with a limited (to 100) bonus CD in more lovely screen printed packaging containing another four bonus tracks. On Slow Loris.

What their label says...
“From Which We Were Raised” is the Debut album from “At Last An Atlas” and is released on the Dublin-based Slow Loris Label.
“At Last An Atlas” is the music of Greg O'Brien (The Hollows). Greg was born and lives in Dublin. Currently he writes and records music in the house where he grew up. He uses organs, live electronics, samplers, nylon string guitar, vocals, noises and field recordings to create his warm, dreamy sounding pop songs.
“From Which Which We Were Raised” is an album which seamlessly mixes upbeat electronic pop songs and with a number of quieter moments, which contrast and compliment each other to build an album that sits perfectly as a whole. Mixed and mastered by Steve Fanagan the album is filled with melody both instrumentally and vocally. Lyrically the release covers a number of themes and sees Greg writing his finest songs to date. The album also features vocals from Frances Downey whose voice beautifully compliments Greg's on a number of songs.
The new album comes at the end of what has been a busy first year for At Last An Atlas. Ships Leaving, a split record with songwriter Paul O’Reilly, was released in April 2009. Greg has played consistently throughout the year, touring with English artist SJ Esau (Anticon Records) and Midori Hirano (Nobel). He has also played shows with artists such as James Blackshaw, Valerie Frances and Northstation amongst others.
In October 2009, “At Last An Atlas” toured America, playing shows with many artists throughout California, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Oregon and Washington state. This tour offered Greg invaluable experience and insight. In April 2010 “At Last An Atlas” will tour mainland Europe.
The release of “From Which We Were Raised” marks the start of another busy and productive year for “At Last An Atlas”.
