Magdalena Solis - Lady of the Wild Things

Lady of the Wild Things by Magdalena Solis

Magdalena Solis formed early 2009 in Brussels. The band consists of three members who all play multiple instruments. They love to goof around with samples using software, mostly slowing them down, reversing, or adding huge amounts of G-verb. The songs are the results of jam sessions and improvisations, which are then mixed with the soundscapes they create, into more structured pieces. The electric guitars are often played with a violin bow, an e-bow, drumsticks, glass tubes, knives, etc... even just blowing air onto the strings, plus cello and a bass guitar (sometimes played with a bow). Voices are often drenched in reverb, for strange mystical layers. Framedrums, bells, chimes, percussions, rainsticks and other ethnical stuff are also very present. Kitchen stuff too, or just things lying around. Anything can be an instrument really. They also use a usb keyboard with sampled instruments, but always put numerous effects on them, thus creating new 'unexisting' instruments. These guys love to jam in a free 'everything is allowed' atmosphere. The band is very hybrid and can appreciate all kinds of music and get ideas from all sorts of music. Every new song is like a new adventure to them. They have only one rule: 'amaze ourselves!'.
