Nice self released CD by The Roman Empire. It's made up of hazy, organic folky lullabies ala the Fence label, with visits into melodic homespun bluegrass territory (with fey vocal harmonies!) It's a hard one to put me finger on as to influences but there's definitely something here for fans of Kings of Convenience & Tunng, they've got that golden meadow vibe, tuneful, soothing & dreamy, and the effortless way with their songwriting, embellishing their perfectly formed numbers with some homely touches & modest magic. Ace stitched sleeve too, with a free badge! Very nice.Over 2 years in the making, "Return to Woody Creak" was
released in the winter months of 2009. With 14 tracks and
as many instruments, this is our darkest and most ambitious
album to date. Comes in a beautifully designed, hand-stitched
package. Behold the Creakordian!

I love this CD and have played it over and over again. Difficult to choose a favourite track, but I particularly love track 7 Out with the tide. The artwork is amazing and I love the hand stitching on the cover. So much thought has gone into it. Lyrically and instrumentally this CD is a masterpiece! I would highly recommend it....according to Vivien Foulkes.
Loved this CD. Beautiful harmonies and very well written and clever lyrics. A must have for your collection.
