Emily Breeze - The Penny Arcade

The Penny Arcade by Emily Breeze

Laserghost are delighted to present the much anticipated debut album from Emily Breeze. The Penny Arcade was recorded with producer Stew Jackson (Phantom Limb, Massive Attack.) Emily's influences range from the audio terroism of the Birthday Party and the Stooges to the glossy melodrama of Scott Walker and Roy Orbison via Bob Dylan's arctic observations. But the 20 something Bristol based musician adds a 21st century sensibility plus a feminine sexiness to these impeccable (anti) heroes. Backed by her blistering band, it's all delivered in a stunning voice that veers from a nicotine whisper to motorcycle snarl. The album tracks range from the rollicking suckerpunch of Mondays Right Hook to the lament of The Old Grand Piervia the ice-cold Money, which wraps a savage lyric in a deceptively radio-friendly cloak. In addition to her 10 self penned tunes you'll also find a haunting cover of Hank Williams classic Lost Highway. Her Badlands E.P. released last year was described as "Brilliant" by Radio 1's Huw Stevens. The Strokes & Regina Spector producer Gordon Raphael was completely bowled over by her live performance, "once she hit the stage i was instantly in rock heaven. The girl can sing, with a crazy sound that's highly threatening, touchingly poignant, explosive, revolutionary and fucking dangerous." Live Emily has supported artists as diverse as Devendra Banhart, Imelda May, Jim Jones Revue, The Noisettes and Phantom Limb. Album launch: Jan 31st Fleece, Bristol.
