Lonelady
Intuition

This record left our Dave feeling happy.
Lonelady's new single is pretty good. 'Intuition' starts with a guitar riff and simple drumbeat that wouldnt sound amiss on an early B-52s album. Then the 'Lonesters voice creeps in and the rest is history. The production sounds good and the song is fairly straightforward. The B-side is my favourite of the two on this Warp 7". A downbeat experimental track that bubbles along in a Scout Niblett type of way. An instantly catchy single...

What their label says...
LoneLady’s captivating second single on limited 7”, backed with a The Fall cover.
Julie Campbell aka LoneLady releases a new
single called ‘Intuition’, taken from her
forthcoming debut album on Warp Records,
‘Nerve Up’.
A further example of her sparse, urgent delivery
and brittle distinctive vocals, ‘Intuition’ is backed
with a cover of The Fall’s ‘Hotel Bloedel’ (titled
‘Bloedel’ on this release), where decayed chords,
archaic violins, Brix Smith’s hypnotized singing
and Mark E Smith’s SS stories are re-imagined
as a procession, chanting in black and white.
Selected copies of the 7” single will contain one
of a series of postcards revealing images of a
20th century Manchester, courtesy of the
Manchester Modernist Society, which
investigates and celebrates the city past, present
and future.
Available on limited edition 7” (250 copies).
