Baby Dee is an American performance artist and singer/songwriter. She is also a classically trained harpist, pianist, circus sideshow veteran, and transgender street legend. Baby Dee has collaborated with Marc Almond, played harp with Antony & the Johnsons, and is a permanent member of cult band CURRENT 93. After building an underground following, alt-country maverick Bonnie "Prince" Billy and guitarist Matt Sweeney produced her last album 'Safe Inside the Day' on Drag City (4* Uncut, 4* Mojo, 4* Q, 4* Observer, 4* SundayTimes, 4* Guardian etc.), the new album 'Book Of Songs' is lead by the calming presence of arranger of some standing Maxim Moston (part of Antony and the Johnsons touring band) with heart rending treatments intertwining around piano/harp and minimal orchestration. Baby Dee's music truly fits into no coined musical category, but it is full of unexpected musical flourishes, equal parts side shop stomp, smoky cabaret torch songs, and dissolute pop.
