Hey friend, you wanna have some fun? World Psychedelic have got your back with this amazingly-titled comp! Featuring such household names as Celio Balona, 14 Bis, Ton & Sergio and Loyce E Os Gnomes this survey of the Brazilian psych scene from 1967 to 1976 is probably the most purely enjoyable record I've heard this week, endearing itself to you with tropicalia-flavoured takes on the classic psych sounds of the UK and US (in both mainstream and garage varieties), as well as more definitively South American styles given a slight twist. It's undoubtedly not as consistent as the label's excellent Psych-Funk 101 but it's still a pretty cracking listen. And read, with the massive info-packed booklet! And watch, with the documentary on the enhanced CD!

Subtitled ‘Tropicalista Psychedelic Masterpieces 1967-1976’, and collated by the same expert team of archivists behind the recently released ‘Psych Funk 101’, ‘Brasilian Guitar Fuzz Bananas’ should serve as a master class for those entranced by the funky, heavy psychedelic wonders of the Tropicalia movement and all that it spawned. But, as the liner notes state, “You won’t find Os Mutantes or their maestro Rogerio Duprat on this compilation. There is a reason that the records contained here have never been reissued … some of the rarest, and best, examples of fuzzy, funky Brazilian psychedelia came out as promo-only 7” records.” Each song contained on this album has never been reissued, and has been restored from the best source possible and remastered for near-perfect sound quality. The giant 24 page full color booklet contains a wealth of imagery and detailed annotation and liner notes in both English and Portuguese. Gatefold sleeve LP version and enhanced CD including short documentary “What Are Fuzz Bananas?”.
