Farmer Dave Scher apparently used to be in Beachwood Sparks and All Night Radio who I can't remember ever hearing. All Night Radio I've not even heard of so you'll have to excuse my ignorance here.. On the evidence of this 'Bab'lone Nights' 7" he's into 70's-inspired indie with a mighty dose of piano-heavy country boogaloo and little droplets of soul and folk. All told, it's not really my thing but there's a bit of homely energy to it I've got to say. It's on Mexican Summer but surprisingly doesn't cost three million pounds.Farmer Dave Scher of Beachwoods Sparks and All Night Radio fame. In addition to his previously starry bands, pedal steel master Farmer Dave Scher is known for his strong appearances, production and performances that include the likes of Jenny Lewis, Interpol, Elvis Costello, Jonathan Rice and Vetiver. On "Bab'Lone Nights" Scher keeps country minded and blends it properly with psych, soul, surf and tinge of Burt Bacharach.
"When it comes to unsung heroes in FADAR world, few are more heroic than Farmer Dave Scher. Now he's finally bringing the heat with a solo record full of innovative folk jams, beachside dub pysch and weird electronic flourishes." - FADER
