Ash
G
A Norman Records recommendation (7th January 2010)

This record left our Brian feeling ecstatic.
Oh. My. God. Look at that cover. Fucking iconic. Brett was really looking forward to this installment and now it's finally here in vivid red, we're almost bowled over by its minimalist magnificence, a slice of uber-effective graphic design and accidental crudity that has more power than probably Tim Wheeler's entire collection of amps. The "song" on this dreadful waste of plastic - 'Ichiban' - ("It sounds like fucking Rancid or summat!" exclaims professional Yorkshireman Brett) is beyond the pale, probably pretty catchy but ultimately quite awful. We've another 2-score installments of this preposterous scheme to suffer, this is probably the last one we'll review. If you're an Ash fan & would like to hire any of us to review your 'Alphabet' single of choice, please contact us in the usual fashion. Aroma: cold chips, baby sick.
